The valley lies in the rain shadow of the Coast Mountains and Cascade Mountains, creating a hot, sunny, dry climate, with most of the valley receiving over 2,000 hours of annual sunlight. No summertime escape to the Okanagan would be complete without your fair share of the fruits of the Okanagan Valley.
There are dozens of parks surrounding Okanagan Lake, a popular outdoor adventure playground where visitors can ski at Silver Star, Big White, or Apex, wilderness camp at Okanagan Mountain, or mountain bike at Kalamalka or Silver Star.
